There are two areas to plates to decode a '68 Mustang. The
First is the VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) typically
found on the dash as you look into the 68 Mustang from the
Passengers side windshield. The second is the the Warranty
Plate found on the Drivers door just below the door latch (as
seen below).
First, let's look at the VIN plate off my 1968
Mustang Fastback:

So what do all of these crazy numbers mean?
Model Year: The model year of the car. In this case the
"8" is for 68 or 1968.
Assembly Plant: Where the 1968 Mustang

So if we decode the VIN on my Mustang, you will found out that
it was made in 1968 in Metuchen, NJ. The Mustang was a

to roll off the assembly line.
